The Red Stable has a history as colorful as its eye-catching exterior. Built in 1872, the building has served as a horse livery, wagon repair shop, ice storage facility, and auto garage over the years. In the late 1950s, when a group formed to save the German Village neighborhood from demolition, local artist Phil Keintz transformed the Red Stable into a custom art studio and gift shop featuring the works of his fellow artists. Phil's tradition continues today, as more than 100 local artists showcase their work inside the historic building. While it's often used as a wedding venue, the winery itself is open by appointment. Vecchia's fine wines are made from traditional Tuscan techniques using certified organic grapes imported from California. All wines are vegan, keto, and paleo diet-friendly as well as gluten-free.
Wyandotte Winery

Wyandotte Winery calls itself the first and oldest winery in Columbus. Here, you can try new wines in a casual "no snob" environment. Located on a neighborhood street near Blendon Woods Park, this winery has a bar, a tasting room, and a wine shop, and all wine is made onsite. The property has a beautiful outdoor patio that is open when the weather cooperates. While they don't have a food menu, the owners will occasionally host a multi-course dinner with wine pairings. The winery is open Thursday - Saturday. Also, if you're traveling toward the Lancaster Ohio area, be sure to check out Rockside Winery and Vineyards, which is Wyandotte's sister winery.

Slate Run Vineyard

Named for a nearby creek, Slate Run has over sample 17 proprietary wines available to sample, each one made with grapes from their beautiful vineyard. Since they're located about 19 miles southeast of Columbus, they're actually 200 feet higher in elevation which creates a unique mixture of soils and microclimate. In addition to a beautiful vineyard, Slate Run also has a 2,400-square-foot Winehaus that is perfect for private parties or special events. Don't feel like making the drive? Slate Run also ships wine anywhere in Ohio. Slate Run is open Mondays - Saturdays from 1 p.m to 7 p.m.
Soine Vineyards Winery

This beautiful winery vineyard sits on about 6 acres of land about 4 miles north of Columbus. Ten cultivars of grapes are grown within the vineyard and are used to produce a variety of locally-produced red, white, and blush wines. They often have live music and special events on the weekends, so if you're looking to a quick way to escape the busy city, head to Soine Vineyard where you can sip wine while relaxing on their beautiful property. The winery is opened Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 2 to 8 p.m.
Blend of Seven Winery

This cozy winery located north of Columbus features a tasting room, event space, and outdoor seating. They also host live music, chili cook-offs, and other special events throughout the year. Scioto Audubon Dog Park

The 10-acre Godwin Park has a one-acre small dog section and a 4-acre area for large dogs to play. It's a favorite among locals thanks to having plenty of trees that provide much-needed shade. There are also several benches, a dog water fountain, and walking trails that wind through the park.

The perfect small dog park for those who want to sit and relax, the Frank Fetch Memorial Park was modeled after a 19th Century German "Bier Garten." It features extensive landscaping, decorative lights, brick walkways, and picnic tables where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee with a friend while your dogs play.
A wrought iron fence gives the park an "old world" look that you're sure to love. It's also well-appointed with plenty of doggie bags and water stations.
Big Walnut Dog Park

Visitors to Big Walnut Dog Park will enjoy the open space and the separate play areas for large and small dogs. There's also ample parking, a portable restroom, and picnic tables. This park doesn't provide water for the dogs, so make sure you bring your own!
Pizzurro Dog Park

In addition to its other amenities, the 23-acre Pizzurro Park features a 4-acre, fenced-in, off-leash dog park. There's a separate area for dogs under 25 pounds and an agility course for dogs of all sizes. There's also a paved trail through the large-dog area, which makes it wheelchair friendly. There are restrooms on-site and trails where you can walk or jog with your dog on-leash.
Wheeler Dog Park

Locals love visiting the Wheeler Dog Park. It features separate large and small dog areas, a picnic table, and benches. There's no onsite parking here, but it's easy to park on the curb and walk. It's also extremely popular with residents who live within walking distance from the park.

Do you enjoy running with your dog? Then you'll love the 6.1-mile, dog-friendly Heritage Trail. This paved trail runs from downtown to Cemetary Pike. There's also a 4-acre off-leash dog park with separate fenced-in areas for small and large dogs to play.
Friends of Alum Creek Dog Park

Like most dog parks in the area, this park offers separate play areas for large and small dogs. It's also light, so dogs and their owners can continue to safely play after the sun goes down. There are also three fenced water areas for those dogs who love to swim!
Want to help out? This park has a monthly meetup on the last Saturday of each month from 10 am until noon. This is a great way to meet like-minded people (and their dogs!) while also working on small improvement projects around the park.
